this OCZ "overclocking" ram with this Asus "flagship" Motherboard
http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=101&l3=0&model=...8&m
*Oh, and will this board support the new 65nm AMD processors?*

because I heard that OCZ ram doesn't really work with Asus Motherboards.

But i hope this does.

and how far do you think i'll be able to OC the 3000+ with a stock fan?
may be around 1.8 to 2.6?

Thanks.

*Ah, I think i have a problem. I am planning to put in a IDE HD and a CD-RW with the DVD-rom and i think they are ALL ide devices..

Are there any way to use all of them?

Oh, im getting the lowest cpu because when the 65nm processors come out late 2006, im planning to buy the X2 version of that.

I chose the ram based on the price :p it was the cheapest and I don't think OCZ is that bad. :(

ive heard bad things about asus and ocz lately. also for your drives try an ide to sata connector http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822998001

The Asus/OCZ issue is between Asus AM2 motherboards, and OCZ DDR2 ram. OCZ DDR and Asus 939, 478 (and in some cases LGA775) boards works fine together.

Ditto here, i'm getting an M2N-SLI/DXE, haven't decided on cpu, the only reason i'd buy an X2 now is so that i don't have to reinstall an SMP kernel when i upgrade in a few years. i might even get a sempron now, it's only an internet box after all.

are there issues between Asus AM2 and any other DDR2 sticks? seems strange to me, seeing as the memory controller is in the CPU. anyone know what the actual cause is?

I think someone actually found a site explaining the cause of the problem.... I don't remember where it is though. See if Google turns anything up. I've also seen Asus AM2 boards have issues with some G.Skill DDR2 sets.... but it's not as widespread as the Asus/OCZ DDR2 problems.

What's the board model?

This is why we want people to name their links properly. I can't get the the Asus site right now because of maintenance on their servers. I need the model number in order to tell you for sure.

the model is
Asus M2NPV-VM AM2 Socket

and in the site, it said Asus's "flagship" microATX Motherboard.

I didn't know how to link the product like that :(
