Event 1054 - Newbie Help

Hi there, I am a Win2k server newbie, setting up a small
domain for a network of about 6 computers. I have tried
absolutley everything to fix this error that seems to
occur on most machines in the event viewer. I'm sure it
has something to do with the DNS server running on our
win2k server, but I can't for the life of me work out how
to fix this or what's wrong!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Andy

Are your clients using ONLY the DC for DNS?
post an ipconfig /all for the DC and a client.

Thanks for posting your ipconfig, the only problem I see here is on the DC
you are using the loopback address for DNS, change that to 10.0.0.2.

Are all your clients XP Pro?
If they are this one can be a tough one to diagnose, here is a link that can
help you. Be prepared to spend some time on this, and don't make too many
changes at a time so you'll know which one really fixed it.

Yes, all are XP Pro.
Thanks for your help, I figured this one would be tough to
fix though, i have been trying for quite a long time and
TBH i have already tried most of the suggestions that
apply that are listed on the eventid.net site.

Many thanks for your help

Andy

Some questions:

Are all the SRV records present for the domain under the RomStor.local zone
in DNS?
Are updates set to at least "allow updating".
Any errors on the DC?
How many DCs/DNS do you have, just the one?
Was anything altered in DNS, a GPO, or anything else? A small insignificant
change may have a drastic effect.
