Motherboard comparison?

Just a question i was wondering about:

Would an Athlon 64 3700 (Asus K8NE Mobo) be faster than a Intel Pentium 4 3 Ghz (Asus p4p800 mobo).

And lets say for arguments sake they have the exact same components i.e. Memory, graphics card and PSU etc.

For most applications the 3700+ would stomp on the P4 3.0GHz, even if that 3.0GHz was a Northwood "C".

If the actual clock frequency difference is hard to grasp, just remember that Intel's fastest desktop processor is a Core2 Duo at well under 3GHz.
