Another problem I see with the OP's request. What do want your PC to do?

Media Center/HTPC, silent, gaming, office (I would guess no).

Just put a list of features that you are looking for and you'll get better traction, otherwise there is simply no good way to spec something out for you.

this is my first topic on this site. this would be a home theater computer and i have been trying to put together a system but i have never built one before and am not that much informed on what are good components. i have been trying to put a good system together but all the components i put together are too expensive.

when it comes to the actual systems i dont know which one i would like a balenced conroe system but am afraid that the whole setup is a bit young and would perfer a more mature setup and not to mention that it is just plain expensive right now!

i like the thermaltake soprano but it dosent have any usb ports in the front which my dad wants. so i would appreciate it if you suggested some of your favorites.

160 gb hd
intel motherboard
systemax case 1 x 80 mm fan in back

a geforce 5200 128 mb
grafics card which cant do anything at 1280 by 1040
i would like to turn up some settings a bit more

what kind of television do you have, is it a rear projection or a plasma or lcd? Is it HDTV?, you dont need a really powerful system but a good video card I would imagine.

If you are going to go with craptacular 533 memory, you might as well just suggest 939 which will perform better. I build a system for around $700 that included DDR2-800 so it can be done easily.

OP: save money by going with the Sonta II case which comes with a PSU- and can get the better memory. Or just go S939 if you dont plan to upgrade ofr a few years.

Alright definitely go with the sonata. Don't know how i missed that. That extra money could definitely be used for better memory. Take into consideration that this build has a sound card so that he can use it on the TV, that was the hardest hit on the budget.

Yeah that $112 sound card is a huge hit, but is required. You could pick up an older Augidy card OEM though and save some cash that way.
