How to use the host file on windows XP/2000 so that it is
used instead of a dns lookup? Any suggestions? Please
give me instructions.

Thanks in advance.

The host file in WinXP is located in C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc
Windows automatically uses the host file before querying DNS in WinXP.

Hope this helps!
