Hello guys, I have a question. I would like to run Boot Camp and have both OSX and Windows 8 installed on my Macbook Pro. I have a 2006-2007 model 17" MBP with 2.4 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM, 250 HDD, 64-bit, etc. It is the model that is completely silver with silver keyboard (not the newer unibody design with black keyboard, retina display, etc.)
A while back, I tried to run Boot Camp and install Windows XP and when doing so my keyboard would not work after pressing any key to boot from CD/DVD... Once I get into the menu on the Windows disc and it asks to select installation setup method (1 or 2) my keyboard does nothing!!
When I press any keys on my keyboard, nothing happens. I also noticed the backlight was off...
Many months later, I finally receive my Windows 8 installation DVD and the same exact thing happens! Why does the MBP keyboard not work on the Windows DVD!?!
- I previously had a nearly identical MBP but it was a 15". Both 15" and 17" models of mine had this problem.
Does anybody have any suggestions or work arounds for this problem?
Note: I already have the windows drivers provided by Apple on a disc but I need windows before I can even install the drivers.
Note: I have an Apple USB Keyboard for my iMac. If I use it, I wonder if that could possibly get me through the Windows installation?
