sli 7900gtx and 3dmark05

psu is X-power 700 watt SLi compatable
2 x 200 GB Maxtor HDD

Hi

Finally got my SLI rig working. I can't use 3Dmark 06 yet as there is a problem with the PSU (it can't put out the amps to each card continously and shuts the computer down.)

These are my 3dmark 05 resaults.

1st time

10134
SLI 11788

2nd time

10064
SLI 11721

Does that seem ok? I knew SLI wasn't supposed to double your FPS but I have never had experiance with SLI before and I don't quite know what to expect.

Also, If I have a crappy PSU, would that effect the performance of the cards?

No, the system will just crash, and burn in hell.

Just ran 05 again and this time the score was 9008 :?

I've got sli enabled, with the 05 profile. I dunno whats going on.

Yes there is a difference with PSU, i was changing PSU between some crap and FORTRON 550W difference on eVGA 7900GT KO was 900 points in 3DMark05, and also if you start some game with lot of details PSU dont have enough power to manage it system will crash and reboot....... But sometimes when you have minimum power it wont reboot but graphic cards dont work as they should, try changing PSU from some of your friends and see if there is a diff........ try getting yourself FORTRON, TAGAN or ENERMAX PSU.....

Yeah I'm going to try an enermax and see if that makes a difference, i heard there a good brand.
