A Disk Read Error Has Occured

My new computer came in today and when I booted it up, I got a disk read error message.

I know the system functioned at the factory because it came with benchmark results.

I leave for college tommorrow; so I really want to get this computer working today.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Reseat the data cable to the hard drive (doesn't matter whether it's an IDE or SATA cable) and then turn the system back on. If you still get the Disk Read Error message, get into the BIOS and make sure the boot sequence is right. If it looks OK, save the BIOS settings and reboot.
