HI, I am looking for the ATI Theater 650, does anyone know maby when will it be released? some people say it has been, but i could not find it anywhere online/offline :wink: .

i didnt see it there, ati claimed that it was suposed to be released last month, but i gues its going to be postp-oned again, lol maby its because of the dx10 cards, so theyll implement it first in a all in wonder series cards, hopefully the tuner will come out this month.

From the reviews, the Theater 650 appears to be no better than the 550. Why waste the money for the newer product?

I quickly scanned the article about the 650, but what jumped out at me is that it has a built in Digital tuner. Is that true of the 550? That's a hugh bonus for the 650 to have over analog.

I agrie and also it has beter filtering (3d filtering ...im not shoor of the precise naming of it) which suposedly works well.

THE TV TUNER IS OUT :D it was available since (starting monday August 21st 2006) it is awailable on ati.com, and it will be soon (this week or next week) available in bestbuy.com, and compusa.com
it came out in 2 "flavors" digital the TV Theatre 650 (hardware encodinganalog, and digital, and it also has a fm tuner) and TV Theatre 200 (software encoding, analog only) more info and images at dailytech.com, and i think the inquirer ( :wink: )

The PCI versions have been around in very limited quantities, for a couple of weeks. Effectively a paper launch.

Probably worth the wait, though.

After using the 650, I can say that this is sound advise. If you already have a 550 card don't waste your money with the upgrade. If you are looking to get a starter card I recommend saving some money by going with a 550. I personally decided to return mine and continue to use my TV Wonder Elite.
