I checked the VGA Charts again today (Aug 15, 2006) and there are still no benchies for the Nvidia 7900! It's not like this card came out yesterday.

Come-on Tomshardware, I really want to know how my 7900 stacks up (or down) to with the X1900!

The benchmarks were posted before the 7900 came out. I hear they'll be updated soo though.

The X1900XT stomps the 7900GT. The 7900GT is comparable to an X1800XT.

An overclocked X1900XT will stomp all over a overclocked 7900GT.

You know, 7900GT is not the only overclockable card out there. The X1900 can overclock also...

If you do everything you can to overclock an X1900XT and everything you can to a 7900GT, the 'tricked out' X1900XT will stomp the 'tricked out' 7900GT. Quit arguing with me, you're wrong. Stick to posting stupid questions.

Suck my dick.
Just because i take a moment to think abt what im going to buy unlike u whos just trying to make himself feel better abt buying the X1900XT, then maybe ud understand.

Your putting the R580 against the G71 and saying that the R580 wins on every level, well thats just retarted (like u).
If u overclock the cards to the same freaquency they will perform pretty much the same, with the G71 taking the crown most of the time. So dont tell me that the X1900XT STOMPS on the 7900 GT, because thats just stupidest thing ive ever heard, at MOST its a little better then it (at the same clock rate) on shader heavy games.
Stupid assh*le.

Yeh, but then itll have much more shaders and just a little more texture fill, wich is an even greater overkill.

G71 Overclocks in a smarter way.

Reply to Track

Since when is having more shaders, pipelines an overkill?

Reply to prozac26

Yeah because games are straying away from shaders. And high resolutions gaming is a thing of the past. Play any game at the resolutions and graphic quality you should be playing it if you're going to buy a high dollar card, and the X1900XT stomps the 7900GT. I win again!

Some guys get two 1900xt's when they order one. LOL! Stupid answers too.

Even if you overclock the 7900GT to an 800MHz core, the highest overclock possible on air, it'll still get beaten by the X1900XT at stock speeds in high resolution gaming.

Nuh uh, what if you volt-mod it then phase cool it and overclock it then solder on another GPU then fabricate 6 more cards on the board then run them all in SLI but linked together then voltmodded and overclocked. Then it would be better.[/Track]

ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :evil: :evil:

I asked where are the Tomshardware benchmarks for the 7900. I really didn't intend for a flamewar to erupt. I know full well that a stock 7900 doesn't out perform a stock X1900 but I wanted to see benchmarks not a flame war!!! And preferrably, these benchmarks should include SLI versus Crossfire configurations

Also it would be nice to have it right here at Tomshardware rather than other sites as I'm most comforatble with their format.

Reply to MisfitSELF

LOL!

Dude like has been said the compare list takes time to update, you'll have to wait if you want it in the easy drop down menus format. :roll:

Now back to the Flame War!

There are always innocents suffering in wars, and flamewars aren't an exception. Makes for good reading though. Seriously, there are a LOT of benchmarks on the 7900 GT and the X1900's waiting to turn up on Google. I've researching on those too and at the very beginning I didn't know how they compared to each other. Now I know that the X1900 is the faster card. :twisted:

And what's the point in comparing a 7900GT to an X1900XT, when the latter card costs almost half again more? That's what I would consider to be the highest comedy of that whole dragged-out debate.

Reply to killer_roach

I didn't start by comparing the 7900GT to the X1900XT, Track did.

Almost 50% more? Where do you shop?

Try less than 20% more and you get twice the memory for that @ NewEgg;

GF7900GT for $239.99;
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814150150

X1900XT 512 for $278.99;
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814127206

Comparing 512MB to 512MB there's many XTs that are cheaper than the cheapest GT @ $299 and it's out of stock;

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] &maxPrice=

So REALLY what's the big deal again?

If the inability to catch even the most blatant sarcasm were a turd, you'd be full of shit. It's painfully obvious to everyone who reads that post, other than you, that the first two statements were made in jest, complete sarcasm, which is obviously lost on you. And I don't even own an X1900XT, which is also blatantly obvious because my system is in my signature. Someone made a false statement, I corrected the false statement, they continued to make false statements, I corrected them and then made fun of them. That's what I do. Go grow a sense of humor and some reading comprehension skills.

That's a good question. I'll try to answer it from my perspective (since I started this stupid thread!).

I currently own a 7900GT and play Oblivion at 1600 X 1200 with medium settings. It's nice but as I progress through the game to harder or graphically busier sections, my frame rate takes a dive.

I'm debating on where my upgrade money should go. Should I for instance scrap the 7900 and get a better single card, or should I consider getting another 7900 and SLI them? Keep in mind I run games at very high resolution on my 24" widescreen so, if my understanding is correct, I could stand to benefit greatly (20-30ish %) from SLI (or crossfire for that matter).

My gripe is that 7900 benchmarks ARE NOT on the VGA charts for me to even make that comparison! The cards have been out for like six months now what gives Tomshardware? It seemed like the X1900 got posted to the charts right away.

Reply to MisfitSELF

Whenever I'm looking for up to date benchmarks I go here.
They don't seem to have benches in the most useful games (they tend to be somewhat dated), but they offer plenty of resolution/AA/AF choices for each one and they keep their charts up to date with the latest cards.
Edit: Oops. For some reason I thought they had more SLI/Xfire configs than they actually do... :oops:

this question the OP asked has been answered many times. still i have to laugh at track. the guy who i have tried to help as well as others have and he always makes a new thread to ask a different question instead of asking them in his original thread.

oh and i have to say lol at that bitchin fast card which would surely smoke my system. i always laugh at it especially as i can imagine it being on one of thise satellite shopping channels by some spanish guy. i am sure you all know the type i mean.

to the OP: please have patience as last time i heard toms was re benching the x1xxx series by ATI and at the same time recompiling the interactive charts to included all the cards.

Reply to strangestranger

At 1600x1200 and higher a multi GPU setup does show of its stuff, although in this case I'm not too sure as Oblivion is much better on ATI cards.
