As I solve the following thing in Windows 2000:

The DNS server encountered a bad packet from 200.24.96.8.
Packet processing leads beyond packet length.

Is this EventID 5501?

If that doesn't help, please describe your configuration. An ipconfig /all,
what sort of zones do you have, do you have forwarding configured,
delegation, zone transfers, service pack level, BIND in the mix, etc, would
be helpful. Otherwise, you can suppress this message by reducing the event
logging level in the reg and ignore it.
