Just wondering if anyone's had a taste of video gaming with a pc on a big screen. Im thinking of getting a samsung 56" dlp and I'm not sure if that's a good idea... any video lag involved?

If you are going to play at 1024 x 768 there should be no problems as long as your card has a hdmi out (can buy an adaptor for this).

There should be no video lag but you have to realize that most tv's only show 30 fps.

Well, I was thinking of getting a 1080p one so shouldn't that not be a problem with progressive scanning? As I understand, progressive scan actually measures up to 60 frames, correct?

Really depends on what games you want to play... The signal your computer receives is the one it will show as long as the resolution is good enough... i.e. can't send a 1280x1024 to your tv (won't look right). If your tv can handle 60 fps then that's great but I'm going warn you that while 1024 x 768 (HDTV) is a great resolution for a 17" monitor, it won't look so good on a tv, better than regular tv but not as good as a lcd monitor.

if you play in resolutions higher than 1024 x 768 you would need quad SLI (I think) or maybe 2 7900GTX
Not quite; I'd only recommend Quad SLI to people who plan on gaming at 1920x1200 or higher.

As to the original question; if you plan on playing at your standard 1080p resolution, you'll probably want a dual GPU solution to run all of your titles. Two 7900GTXs or X1900XTs will be enough to tackle this 2 megapixel display; I don't expect to hear you complaining about the price seeing as you're considering a 1080p HDTV.
