Now that the C2D chips are available, does anyone know if the mobo mfg's have been coding their boards to allow IDE support (mainly for optical drives but I also want an easy way to transfer my IDE hd data to my SATA drive after installing Win XP)?

As of now I will jump on the P5W deluxe bandwagon but since I am a few weeks away from purchasing a mobo I may change my mind.

Thanks!!

Eddie

So I guess the answer is "no" that there is as of yet no changes to the "native" IDE support on the 965 chipset boards. You said a reviewer had to get a BIOS update to run Windows Setup with a PATA IDE drive...any idea if future BIOS's will have this already built in, or if the BIOS update will be available to the general public?

I'm still thinking of the Asus P5W, though...

ICH8-R will never have IDE ever.
Like prozac said you have to find a board with addon onboard IDE controller such as Gigabyte 965P-DS3.

Sorry I worded my question wrong. I should've asked if how to know which boards have the addon IDE controller. Is it listed on the boards functions, etc, from the mfg's websites?
