Haldenshore has been around for a long time, but I just discovered it
recently after finding Havish (a later, more impressive, mod by the
same author).
Haldenshore adds a second village--Haldenshore--adjoining Seyda Neen.
The mod has a number of clever quests, doable by any first level
character. The mod also has much more extensive quests for characters
who join the thieves guild. Whether or not you join, you can "own"
your own guild house. Sort of. The first few quests you encounter can
be successfully navigated by a new character. But some later quests
require a more developed character; some thieves guild quests don't
"turn on" for a while.
Haldenshore blends well with the game. The mod is aesthetically
pleasing, though it looks much like any other part of the game world.
The quests are well done, with interesting twists.
Being close to Seyda Neen, Haldenshore might interfere with other mods
that expand upon that popular entry area. The village is to the SE,
near the sunken ship, and has a bridge that lets the player walk over
to the island where the village is located.
The mod is not as elaborate as Havish. Haldenshore does not--at least
that I've found--have some of the scripted movie-like scripts. But, if
you liked Havish, you will surely like Haldenshore. If you've never
heard of either, but like quests, then you will like Haldenshore. If
you like thieves guild, then Haldenshore is almost a must-have; as is
Havish. Even if you dislike thieves guild, there is enough to do to
make Haldenshore worth visiting.
