I'm looking for a low noise cooler for my AM2 X2 4000+ CPU. I have a lian-li PC-60B PLUSII case and an ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard. I'm open to any suggestions as long as the cooler is low noise and works well. I also want to replace my other 3 case fans, what are some good low noise fans? Which are good brands for both CPU and case cooling?

Like I said I have the Lian-li case, is there a way I can find out the dBA and the CFM of the 120mm fan on the side. It is not listed on their website unfortunately.

I'd email Scythe and see when they are going to have the Ninja Plus ready for AM2. It should be quiet enough for you. WRT low noise fans, I like SilenX although they are pricey.

Seems to good to be true... Do you have one of these? If they really can move that much air and be the quiet, I'll stock my case with it and buy my 80mm fans from them too :)

I've used the 14, 11 and 9 dB fans but not the 18. I believe that the SilenX specs are accurate based on my own experiences. You might have to shop around, maybe look at EastLuna.com - it appears that the US supplier of SinenX has quit handling them. I've also bought them from subzeropcs.com.

Did anyone manage to get a Scythe Ninja to fit on the M2N32 SLI-D board?

I just got the two today, and did a test fit without the CPU, and the copper heat pipes oif the Ninja seem to be blocked by the onboard heatpipe, causing the whole heatsink to tilt. I don't think a CPU is going to be high enough in th socket to prevent the two pipe systems from clashing.

How come no-one ever mentioned this before?

cheers,
Jazz

Actually the Noctua NF s12 has a better reviews I believe... http://www.nintek.com.au/x/scripts/prodView.asp?idProduct=7866

Anyway, that don't help me, I want to know if anyone has successfully put a Scythe Ninja Heatsink on a m2n32 sli-d board...

In my systems, SilenX fans measure quieter than the Noctua you reference and any other fan I've tested (Zalman, Scythe, Yate Loon, Antec, TT, AC, etc.). But the SilenX costs an arm and a leg and that's a significant tradeoff for a dB or two.

If your not going to o/c too much keep the standard heatsink, but get a 70mm to 120mm fan adapter and get a antec tri cool or similar fan, at 1200 rpm they push 38cfm at 17db, 1500 rpm 50cfm 24db, 150 70cfm at 32db which is soo quiet, and will stil give some leeway for o/c
(the standard amd setup is 36cfm at 38db)
