Hi, my Kyocera printer will print sometimes, other times it's halfway
through a job and starts sending odd symbols and smiley faces, a few to each
page, and I have to switch it off to stop it.
I downloaded a new driver not too long ago
What can be causing this??

1. What did the new driver do that you could not
do beforehand? You can temporarily disable it
by renaming it and rebooting (although you may
get an error message File Not Found.)
2. One or more font files may have been
corrupted. In what font were you printing
(e.g.a Windows font or a WP font) ?

Hi Don
thanks for your reply.
It's on any file not necessarily a text file, could be an image. It just
spits out sheet after sheet with just a couple of symbols on it, so it
wastes heaps of paper. Even if my file is only 1 page long. I have found an
answer or at least I hope I have. I heard that this could be an issue with
the USB port power. So I have moved the printer to a port which is direct on
the Mobo rather than on the USB card. I am hoping this fixes it, will write
back if it doesn't.

This behavior is usually the result of either an incorrect driver being
selected for a printer, or the driver having become corrupted or broken
in some manner. Maker sure you are getting the correct driver running
for your printer, by checking which driver is tapped and where it is a
default printer driver or not, or being selected when appropriate.

If the driver seems to be the correct one, I'd consider removing
(uninstalling) and reinstalling it.
