  1. What a great price in comparison to the 6800GS and 7800GS! If they become available everywhere at similar pricing, We very may well have another solid real AGP choice; good thing as the shop ATI AGP deals seem to be drying up.
  2. man im so glad I live in the U.S yall always get the cool stuff later

Actually, it looks like the UK is getting these before us. Shoot, they get some nice products over there that we can't get (Gainward, Galaxy, Palet).

The 7800GS is the fastest(there for best) AGP solution, so whatever....

    The 7600GT (560MHz, 12 pipe) is faster than the 7800GS (375MHz, 16 pipe)....

OK the Gainward 7800GS+ is still king of the hill, but the price at over double the 7600GT rules it out IMHO...
  6. I agree with GW, a Reference 7800GS vs. Reference 7600GT, I'd say the 7800GS would win in almost all situations. 7800GS>6800U, and from what have seen 6800U very often beats the 7600GT. 7600GT seems to handle HDR better than the 6800U (judging by discussions we have had), but otherwise look over Digit-lifes charts and the 6800U OC (425/1100)beats a 7600GT in almost every test:

    Just check Farcry for example:
    http://www.ixbt.com/video/itogi-video/0706/itogi-video-fc1-wxp-aaa-1600-pcie.html

Anyway, my excitement about the card is in it's price/performance as the 7800GS just seems to have always been way overpriced. IMO, 7600GT AGP for $175 USD or less would be a very nice choice for AGP'ers.

Hellooo, knock knock anyone inn? The fact of the matter is the 7600GT is faster than the 7800GS, proof....

In the following links are reviews of both the 7600GT and the 7800GS, now use the benchmarks of farcry at 1600x1200, 4xaa, 8xaf (to stress the card and make sure the CPU etc are not counting to the score)

    Standard clock 7600GT = 47fps http://sg.vr-zone.com/?i=3338&s=4
    Overclocked (400MHz) 7800GS = 39fps http://tomshardware.co.uk/2006/02/02/nvidia_7800gs_confirms_agp_aint_dead_yet_uk/page7.html

THE 7600GT IS FASTER THEN THE 7800GS

i`m so sorry i have to say that my friend but you and technical stuff do not mix :(

7600gt has an pci-express interface...7800gs has an agp interface....
well if this won`t ring you any bell let me refresh your mind.....that means there are different sistems ..with different platforms...i`m sure the score will add double in favour of the 7800 if there were identically platforms
  11. Depends on the system being used.

However are 939 and 775 AGP and PCI-e boards available, and if you were to take the exact same setup (difference being the motherboard) to compare the 7600GT and 7800GS, the 7800 would be outright.

Its only with select models and extremely specific situations that the GT would claim a win.

Oh my word, you took two seperate reviews from two different sites, running two different benchmark timedemos, on completely different systems, to come up with an absolutely rediculous conclusion. Congrats, you win our :trophy: for August 2006. Did you even notice the 7800GS was on an A64 3200+ system and the 7600GT was paired with a FX-55.

  13. You can't compare benchmark numbers directly when everything is different. But you can get an idea how the two compare by seeing how they stack up to a common card. In this case, the GF6800U OC clocked 425/1100.

Compare this review of AGP cards and you'll see that with a few exceptions like SPCT, the 7800GS almost always ties or beats the 6800U.
    http://www.ixbt.com/video2/agp-2k6-d.shtml#p18

Now in the links I gave before, the same clocked 6800U pci-e pretty much beats or edges out the 7600GT in everything.
    http://www.ixbt.com/video/itogi-video/0706/itogi-video-fc1-wxp-aaa-1600-pcie.html
    http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/digest3d/index.html
The test systems are not identical favoring the PCI-e with an A64 4000+ S939 compared to A64 3700+ S754, but it's the same reviewers doing the same timedemos. Anyway, looking at Farcry 16x12 4x/16x like you said:

    7800GS = 40 fps
    6800U AGP = 36 fps
    6800U PCI-e = 38 fps
    7600GT = 34 fps

So it's fairly safe to say that if the 7800GS >= 6800U in pretty much all their tests, and the 6800U > 7600GT in pretty much all their tests, then the 7800GS > 7600GT.
  14. The 7600GT is available for delivery from overclockers now...

Re the performance, I have found a direct comparison benchmark, http://www.trustedreviews.com/article.aspx?page=7993&head=0

Overall it would seem that the 7600GT and the 7800GS are pretty much identical in benchmarks, with the 7600GT taking the performance lead in higher resolutions...

So the 7600GT is THE best option for the AGP user, now anyone still want to argue with me....

    justified.

6FPS in Counter-Strike: Source on a 7800GS at 1600x1200 with 4xAA? Only 39fps at 1600x1200 with no AA? What kind of map were they testing it with?

I'm afraid I just can't believe those benchmarks at all. Particularly when the reviewer says 'I was getting some strange artefacts with the 7800 GS '.
