These guys have done it by undervolting the processor

Lol.. you can do that with any processor... but the problem is that processors are tested and binned following a specific voltage. Therefore not all processors will work properly when undervolted.

The best example are the Core 2's, they should infact be able to easilly be undervolted. The proof is in the relative ease you have overclocking a Core 2 on stock voltage and the 65nm process they're based on.

Exactly ! Not all processors can be undervolted! X2 4200+ is one of them!
Any prof that Conroe can be undervolted besides speculation?

I don't think you understood what I mean't.. NO "the" X2 4200+ cannot be undervolted. That particular X2 4200+ could. But no two processors are the same. So you can't generalise as it would be false advertisement.

Silent PC Review has more articles on undervolting etc then anywhere else.

What might be easier to understand is that ALL processors can be run undervolted, just feed less volts to them. Whether they will be stable is another issue altogether.

<-- running a Celeron D 330 (2667, 1.4V) at 2920, 1.125V.
Power consumption down to 37.5W, from 73W.
