I know this is in ok range for the AMD Athlon64 3700+ at stock speed, but my CPU is running at 30*C at idle and 46*C at load. I have the Zalman 7700 with AC5. I have been reading that it can be lower at a low. I have the Cooler Master Centurion 5 case. I have no spyware and no virus. I am running Windows XP. I have the fan in the back and front and where the funnel was at.

then it really is a bit high, but all I can talk about is my 3000+ and it idles 1-2°C more than ambient, however yours has twice the cache and if you also have more than one HD installed and a good video card all to add heat, that's pretty normal.

Then it's OK. However, if you have an Asus board, check that Q-Fan is not set to a low ratio in the bios (it makes the fan spin slower on lower temps).

I had an AMD Sempron 2200+ Socket A on an Abit NF7-2S with a cheap CPU heatskin that was 33*C at idle and 40*C at load. The case had a back 80mm fan only. That is why I asked.

That sempron hasn't C'n'Q and is 130nm iastead of 90 (that's why it idles a bit higher), but has fewer ( 1/8 ) cache and runs at lower frequency and that's why it's cooler at load.
