Hi, have just setup a small network with sbs2k3 and 7 xp workstation, using
adsl for internet access thourhg a small router.

everything works fine, apart from gaining access to the msn.co.uk website,
and microsoft.com website.

dns looks to be functioning correctly, all forwaders setup to our isp etc,
just these websites, i know they are up due to trying them from outside, any
ideas?

The only thing in common between these sites are the NS records.
Can you resolve and access these?
ns1.msft.net. 172588 IN A 207.46.245.230
ns2.msft.net. 172588 IN A 64.4.25.30
ns3.msft.net. 172588 IN A 213.199.144.151
ns4.msft.net. 172588 IN A 207.46.66.75
ns5.msft.net. 172588 IN A 207.46.138.20

What zone names do you have in your local DNS server?

Hi Kevin,

I can resolve the name via ping, it resolves to the correct IP below. I
even get a reply from ms5.msft.net.

Our local dns zones are

_msdcs.domain.local
domain.local

Thanks.

No probs, issue sorted.

We contacted our ISP, as when we ran a tracert to the domain it stopped once
hitting our ISP. It seems that a broadband router that was installed
changed the defualt MTU size for all external traffic. Apparently some
websites can moan about this, and we didnt had icmp blocked so didnt get the
right messages!!

thanks anyway
