This board looks sweet. I was considering the AB9 but it looks like it's had lots of problems. Very buggy.

like all the 965 boards at this point, I don't think that there is 1 that is problem free. I suspect that with some more BIOS tuning some of them will polish up well though :?

Intel even have a chipset revision already so maybe it isn't all the mobo mfrs fault ...

there are no problems with ab9/ab9pro.

I think that quite a few would choose to disagree ...

OK, where is this board? I'm ready to order!!! I'll give it until next week and then I'm ordering an ASUS if this one ain't out.

any idea on the price of this board? I'm just about ready to start odering my new setup too, but I could wait a week or so if need be. If its going to be a 300 dollar board though forget it. I had saw somewhere else that it was possibly going to be priced at 240. This would actually make it a tad cheaper then other 975 high end boards.

when I first saw this board, it was going to be the one I was going to get. Now looking at it, they made it so you can't have a gpu in the second x16 slot and have a sound card in the 1 pci slot. Why didn't they put the pci slot where one of the x4 slots are? I think I'm going to go with the p5w dh.

This is from one of the Moderators who run the Abit Forums - under their "New Product Announcement"

Question:
Any body know when AW9D Max ready in market ?

Answer:
October 1st.

But there are some sources that say it's
release date has now been pushed back to October 24.

To my surprise, ZipZoomFly has the AW9D-MAX on their site for $299 - of course, it is backordered.
September 2, 2006 5:54:55 PM

From Abit's forums, I thought it was Sept 1, with actual availability around the 8th or 9th.
September 2, 2006 6:03:35 PM

I think the truth of the matter is that they don't actually know
September 3, 2006 1:16:20 PM

There are 3 different AW9Ds (regular, MAX, Fatal1ty) & going by recent history they won't all appear at the same time which is probably why the spread of expected dates.
It also seems pretty common for them to turn up in different markets (Europe, North America) at different times.

I forget where I've been poking around (likely the abit.com forums), but I think the most recent thing I read was that they're in the pipeline to retailers and retailiers may be actually selling them as early as tommorrow. But, I wouldn't believe it until I see it, since first it was early august, then august, then late august, then early september, and now mid-september. I think they should just take the position it will be realeased iin a month with an R in it. THat gets them good for SeptembeR through ApRil. Then crab season comes (months without R's).

However, there may be truth to this since as mentioned ZipZoomFly has it listed (without stock) at $299 and ExcaliberPC has the regular AW9D for $204, also no stock. I hope the excalibuer is actually the MAX, due to price point. And I think the ZZF price is merely a "placeholder" since its too round a number and too high for msrp.

we'll see.

Abit UK got stock mid-week & expected them to be with major retailers as of this Friday the 15th.

edit: apparently it's already on sale in Fry's.
September 14, 2006 7:37:55 PM

Yeah, $279.99 I heard. Hopefully it's a bit less at other places.
September 15, 2006 9:33:11 PM

Ohter forums are indicating that zipzoomfly got a shipment, posted em, sold em, and noe back on no stock again. supposedly early next week will get more, first come, first served. and they're getting $299 a pop.

excaliber pc has two listings for them, 225 and 279. both seen thru froogle. neither in stock. you'd be a fool if you'd think they'd honor the 225 price over the other 279, but who knows.

Still don't see it anywhere else. no egg. no tiger. no nerds. no nuthin.

wonder if I really wanna buy a board that all of 3 dozen people will have over the next 3 months. Not much strength in those numbers!

I think that you will find that they sold more than that in the first day.
The fact that initial batches have sold out so fast & that initial reports from users are good says that this may be 1 of Abit's most popular mobos for a while.
October 12, 2006 5:38:36 PM

Has anyone found this board anywhere for a decent price?
October 13, 2006 3:38:02 AM

I guess it depends on what is "decent", but I scored it for $208 at xpcgear, with $12 shipping to east coast. so $220 shipped. dunno if that's still good, but was 2 weeks ago. Amazon had it at $230, which included their free shipping, and if you have amazon prime that's free second day air shipping.

Now this board is out of stock at virtually every online retailer. Newegg doesn't even have it listed anymore.
October 17, 2006 10:03:28 PM

It's proven to be a great seller.
Readily available in Europe though.
