Are they wireless PPCs? If so, can they just access a common data store
and/or exchange server instead of the physical and time consuming desktop
sync?

however, active sync will only recognize 1 pocketpc at a time (wireless,
cradled or otherwise.) as far as I know there is no way to sync multiple
units at the same time.

Not sure if you were replyiong to me or the thread itself, but to clarify I
was suggesting not using activesync at all.

original post: "And My Idea is to put them all on the each cradel and let
the pc do active
syn of each one"
I take this as meaning he wanted a way to get them to all sync at the same
time. I was merely pointing out that syncing multiple units at the same
time is not possible (wirelessly or otherwise)

What I want to do is have all the POCKETPC connected to the PC and probaly
especify which PPC I want to syn.
Or something what I don't want to do is put one on the cradel and take off
to put another on.
But have tham all connected and syn one by one. is there any way of doing
that???
Thanks

I was suggesting not using activesync at all.
May I ask what are you suggesting that I can use for this purpose.
Thanks

Well, it woild depend on what exactly you were needing to update on the
ppcs, but if it was file based data, for example, and wireless ppcs, then
you could create a directory on a server for each device, push to the
directories as desired, and have some script on the devices that would pull
the data from its directory . The directory could be based on device name,
just to keep things simple. There are other alternatives, depending on the
data type requirement. Some things could even be emailed to the devices,
with the device script or program acting on a topic accordingly.
The important things, apparently, are that 1) you can control which device
gets the update 2) Multiple devices can update at the same time and 3) You
have some feedback that the update took place. To this last point the ppc
could write to a log file on the server, write a short file itself, or even
email you with update results. There really are a lot of ways of doing it
outside of tying yourself to activesync, if datatype permits. They are
pocket pcs, after all, not just pims.

Too bad not wireless... The above drawing will not work with Active Sync at
the same time, and Blue tooth does not share its port when connected, ruling
out multiple simultaneous connections that way. You could use bluetooth one
at a time, but making and breaking a lot of bluetooth connections in a row
on different devices buys you little over slapping them in cradles.
I hate to say it, but - Well, do you have any spare workstations lying
about?

is there any way of using several PocketPCs connected to USB and be able to
visualize them one by one.
what I want to copy the information that is on the ROM.
Thyanks ..
