I think I have my choices narrowed down to a select few. I dont want to go up anymore in the price range i've listed here.

This card is for an old Shuttle xpc. 2.4c, 1gb ram, 1 hard drive, 1 dvd-rw drive, currently running a FX5600 Ultra. Only gaming is done on this computer ( Primarily WoW/Titan Quest ). And I need to decide between:

eVga 7600GS

ATI X800 XT

ATI X850 Pro

Any help will be great.

I was asking myself the same thing a few months ago and ended up buying an x800 pro vivo and modded it to an x800xt platinum editon :0... anyways the only gripe i have against it is that i dont have that pixel shader 3.0 or whatever it is. The only card you list that supports this is the 7600 but the x800xt is mabye 20% faster so its your decision... Pixel Shader 3.0 (more eye candy) or more fps. PS: the x850 is a waste of money IMO... the one you list is slower than the x800xt.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. Thanks for responding.

It seems like its a battle between newer technology/pixel shader 3.0/runs cooler/less psu requirements vs older/faster/hotter/more psu requirements.

I'm leaning towards the x800xt, but I wanted to hear other people's opinions on the matter.

I Recommand the X800XT too .it`s more powerfull than the others...
newer technology is good but...the card must have enough power to handle it & 7600GS cant handle the PS3.0
there isn`t better choice than X800XT 8)

I know that the x800 gto I have is great and I have modded it to 16 pipelines to equal the x800xt (correct me if im wrong) It works flawwlessly in my older Dell 4550.

I would stick to Ati for older Agp cards.

I ended up going with the AIW x800xt for $149. Now I'm wondering if the Arctic cooling silencer 4 will fit in an xpc. I'm at work.. so I can't do any measurements.

I'm correcting you.

That GTO of yours couldnt reach XT benchmark speeds if you got out and pushed..... And to the original poster, enjoy the outdated technology these ATi zealots talked you into buying, it ought to feel good when you try to enable HDR on one of your more modern games, and the option isnt even available...

HDR on a $150 NV AGP? LOL, You know better than to pull that one. That would be one mighty fine looking slide show demo.

EDIT: Just for noobs, so they are not misled. Let me demonstrate with a top of the line GF6:

BFG 6800U OC stock BFG 425/1100 speeds:
10x7 max no HDR 80fps
farcry6800u0110x7max0xaa8xafpw2.jpg

10x7 max HDR 7 32 fps.
farcry6800u0110x7max0xaa8xafhdr7qd8.jpg

Ooooh, yippee, so glad the 6800U can do HDR in Farcry. I'd rather turn off HDR (back to X800 settings) and play at 1280x1024 with 4XAA. And how much does an NV AGP as good as a 6800U cost? What's another sm3.0 only HDR game? Oh heah Oblivion.....The game that made me dump the 6800U and 7800GT and go back to ATI for FSAA + HDR + higher details + better framerates.

Anyway, GW. You are just spoiled owning a good SM3.0 AGP card that can handle HDR in the few titles that X8xx can't do it in. You Still got the 7800GS, or did you sell it?

Yeah it can't reach the speeds but it does have the extra 4 pipelines. This card helps my aging pc. I really don't care that much about the 'eye candy'.

I think the 7600GT is now avialable for AGP. That would probably be your best choice for AGP aside from putting down $300 on a 7800GS.
