The Core 2 Duo CPUs are very attractive, but I'm wondering if the e4300 (1.8ghz, 800MT fsb, x9 multiplier) will end up being the 805D of the Core 2 Duo series.

With this low FSB, any P965 or 975X board should easily be able to whack the FSB to 266 (1066) and have an instant e6600 with a little less cache, and the higher multi means that any more overclocking from there has a larger influence for the same FSB increase.

I'd also be willing to bet on this CPU being pretty cheap.

Is it worth waiting for?

Sounds great! Still, I wonder what the difference between Allendale and Conroe is... is it VT support?

allendale has 2mb of cache and lower clock, conroe has 4mb cache and higher clock.

Guess that helps. So ya, there is a VT difference.

Looks pretty attractive, any idea about price/availability date?

Reply to m25

Availability is Q1 2007. Price is around $150 although that price point doesn't current exist. Intel currently has the 915D at $133 and the 945D at $163, so it would be either one of those or somewhere in between.

It is amazing that intel is becoming a shitty manufacturer. I don't know but I love their sh*t! This too, ship it here!

nah there not a shitty manur. they just make a horrable processer in the cel d. but hey it is good for an extreme budget cpu that does only word and internet browsing... atleast its reliable.

I wouldn't say the Celeron D is horrible. It compares to a P4 as older Celerons compared to P3. Now, the Northwood Celerons'(400FSB) were junk, but the Prescott ones(533FSB 90nm) are ok. Just like with the Mendocino/Coppermine core Celerons could compete with P3 when O/Ced to the nines, the Prescott Celerons can also(with the exception of the unfortunate lack of HT).

When i finally can afford a new C2D system(hoping Q1 07) and get rid of my nicely O/Ced Prescott, i'll have to turn the heat back on in my comp. room, and start closing the window.

Haha gutted.

In this room i have 3 "heaters":
D930 @ 4.2
Northwood 2.8 @ 3.6 stock cooling.
Prescott 3.0 @ 3.4 Stock cooling.

The room is no hotter than any other room in my house, even though the machines are run pretty much 24/7.

Room dimensions: 10' x 18'
