I have just built my new system. Power supply is ThermalTake toughpower 750W and motherboard is Gigabyte GA-M59SLI-S5. The motherboard monitoring software Gigabyte EasyTune reports the voltage for where the +12V should be is only 11.60V. The PC is running smoothly otherwise, played some not so recent games like Doom III at 1600X1200 max detail for several hours with no issue. How accurate is those motherboard testing software? Should I be concerned and get the power supply replaced? I am expecting this power supply to be better than that.

Not to worry about, it's both within spec, and within mis-reading from the sensors.

My mobo reports similar and I haven't had a single error since my faulty ram was exchanged on my system.

It would really be worse if it gave too much, actually.

By my calculations it's just out of spec. ie +/- 3%

0,04v is definitely within measuring error range though :p

Perhaps so. But that PSU's not going to get any better with age. I reckon it's best to RMA it straight away.

Hm, well now that I read again, I see that it IS a thermaltake psu, so maybe it's bad..

If they even accept an RMA with something that small...

But, Zeuson, if you have access to it, use a multimeter that is calibrated.

11.60v is nothing to worry about.

The thing to look at is how steady it is. First thing everyone should do is install a quality UPS, that will give stable power to the power supply, from there your motherboard is happy. Do not rely on your power provider to give your house exactly 120v all the time.

Good luck

I'd return it and get a Enermax or a OCZ unit.
