Am I getting this overclocking thing correctly?

I made sure I got my hands on an E6400 the day it came out and got it for $269.00. I also bought 2 gigs (@ $150.00-$50.00 rebate )of 4200 rated Infineon(Aeneon) Ram that runs at DDR2 533 & DDR2-667 with timings of 4-4-4-11 @ 1.8.

At 2.2 volts and settings of 5-5-5-15 it can go to 406.

These test were conducted here at Toms
http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/02/27/in_search_of_true_ddr2_bleeding_edge_memory/page19.html

When Overclocking;
If I took it from 266 to 300 it would be at 2.40 Ghz 1:1 –same speed as an E6600 (I know the cache will make a diff.)
If I took it from 266 to 333 it would be at 2.67 Ghz 1:1 same as an E6700 AND
If I took it to 400, if my calculations are right that would be 3.2 Ghz don’t know if this is 1:1 at this point still for what I see it still kicks it.

Am I thinking right on this???

All I am waiting for now is the motherboard. The ASUS P5WDG2-WS-PRO (I need it because of the PCI-X slots)

Yeah, that sounds about right. Just don't in big jumps like that. Looks good, though...Make sure that the mobo can support 2.2V for the memory. Some stop as short as 1.95.

This is an ASUS workstation motherboard the P5dwg2-ws-pro. Apparently this chip can go to about 4Ghz. and the board is robust. I think it will supply upto 2.4V to the memory. This is like the old celeron days when overcloxking 50% out of the box was standard on their 300Mhz processor.

I figure I can get it to E6700 status. That will make me happy, I'm not too greedy.

Thanks
