Any difference? Comparing a 4200+ socket 939 to socket AM2.

I've been shopping around for a new cpu and MoBo recently, and have been relying heavily on THG's CPU Chart. I've pretty much decided on an AMD 4200+ X2 cpu. But I've found it comes in both socket 939 and AM2 for the EXACT SAME PRICE.

The CPU Guide does not specify socket types, so I'm assuming that means there is no performnce difference between them... or is there?

Here is my dillema:

Newegg's AMD 4200+ X2 socket 939 for $183.

Newegg's AMD 4200+ X2 socket AM2 for $183.

Same cache size. Same FSB. Both HT. What more to consider?

Basically there is no difference between socket AM2 and 939 in terms of performance. However, AM2 requires fast RAM (and slightly more expensive too) to keep pace with S939. The main difference is that S939 is dead. No more new CPUs for it.

I would go with AM2 since there is definitely an upgrade path for it in the near future. The next AMD CPU, K8L, will be backwards compatible with AM2.
