Server DNS responds only on public IP

I have a Win2K server that has dual NIC's - one LAN, one WAN. Unlike the
other Win2k servers I manage, however, when I ping the server's DNS name from
itself, the responding IP address is the WAN address, not the LAN address.
This server acts as a DNS server for its small LAN, and when pinging its DNS
name from a workstation, I get the response from the LAN IP address.

This is wreaking havoc with my Symantec AV because it finds the server by
name but cannot communicate with it because the WAN IP address is outside the
firewall. There is no hosts entry on the server, and its only DNS entry shows
its LAN IP address. I have done ipconfig /flushdns, to no avail. How can I
force it to recognize itself using its private (LAN) IP address?

Check the binding order.
Right click on Network places, select properties from the list. In the
Advanced Menu of the Window that opens, select Advanced settings, then in
the Connections pane, move the internal adapter to the top of the list.
