Tom just wrote an article on it. Decide based on that.
NEVER buy a laptop (hell any computer) from a big box store. Buy directly from the vendor. Retail computer use the cheapest compents possible and often are months behind when they make it to the store.
What do you plan on doing with this laptop? I don't like those blanket replies that tell you to go Intel, or AMD, without even knowing what you want to do. If you're only going to do rather mundane things like web surfing, email, and word processing, I think you should go for the best value, whichever that might be.
Well, I dont plan on playing games or editing video or anything, basically I'm going to be surfing the web, use MS Office here and there but nothing too crazy, so yea I guess I would be looking for the best value...
I think that $749.00 for an AMD Turion X2 w/ 1GB of ram and 120GB of hard drive isn't bad at all.
I wouldn't mind adding another $300 for double the ram, better video and a little faster processor....
I really wanted someone to suggest me an Intel config similar to both of mine that has a Core Duo processor and is at the same price range....
