I'm thinking about buying a laptop, I read the reviews and the Turion X2 looked pretty good for the price...

I can spend anywhere from $700 to $1100 maybe $1200...

I really like the Acer Aspire at circuit city for $749

Acer Aspire 5102WLMi

AMD Turion64 X2
1GB of Ram
120GB Hard drive
128MB Ati Radeon X1100 Xpress
DVD RW and stuff...

I also looked into ones with similar setups but they come with media readers and 2GB of ram instead but they also cost about $1100..
I really havent looked at any Intel laptops yet...

let me know what you all think

go and get a merom.... even merom laptops are more expensive than turion x2, your money would not be wasted, coz merom will kick the ass of turion x2 in terms of performance

Well if everyone likes Intel better, can anyone give me a build or a link to an Intel that fits my budget and is a better deal than the Turion X2 ??

thanks

id personnely just stick with intel's lineup. Nothing agianst amd its just i like intel better with laptops. Amd all the way for desktops.

I agree on this one. I will only buy an AMD for a desktop but for a laptop :( i,d go with intel the use less power and peform better. hands down.

Like I said every1 is telling me to get Intel which is cool but no1 is suggesting my any laptops or giving me any links...
I could get an AMD Turion TL-50 for about $1,100 this is the config

AMD Turion64 X2 Tl-50 or 52
2GB's of DDR2
120GB Hard Drive
256MB Geforce

or I can get the same setup but with 1GB of ram and 128 Radeon 1100 IGP for $749.00 !!

It seems like a pretty good deal to me, but If any1 could give me a similar Intel setup I would really appreciate it

thanks

What do you plan on doing with this laptop? I don't like those blanket replies that tell you to go Intel, or AMD, without even knowing what you want to do. If you're only going to do rather mundane things like web surfing, email, and word processing, I think you should go for the best value, whichever that might be.

Well, I dont plan on playing games or editing video or anything, basically I'm going to be surfing the web, use MS Office here and there but nothing too crazy, so yea I guess I would be looking for the best value...
I think that $749.00 for an AMD Turion X2 w/ 1GB of ram and 120GB of hard drive isn't bad at all.
I wouldn't mind adding another $300 for double the ram, better video and a little faster processor....
I really wanted someone to suggest me an Intel config similar to both of mine that has a Core Duo processor and is at the same price range....
