Are there problems with the root-servers?

Queries are slow! Or is it my dns server
that has a problem?

Thanks in advance.

The Root Servers only accept iteritive queries, IOW, your DNS asks for
www.yahoo.com the root servers will only return the .com gTLD server IPs, it
is up to your server to go ask the .com gTLD servers for www.yahoo.com, Then
the .com gTLD servers will only give your DNS server the IP of the yahoo.com
DNS servers. Then your DNS server must go ask the yahoo.com DNS servers for
the www.yahoo.com record.
Root Servers cannot be used as forwarders.

Exactly how did you determine or believe the Roots are slow? What sort of
problems are you having? Are there any sites not resolving?
