The supplies status indicator indicates e.g. black toner empty and messages
pops up after every print command. IMO the toner cartridge is not completly
empty as it still has an uniform toner distribution on the supply roll and
the print outs are still showing black in good contrast.

Questions:
Is it a problem to continue printing until the cartridge is completely
exhausted ?
Is it possible to refill the cartridge with e.g the toner I recover from my
unused brandnew HP or Cannon cartridges ?

TIA

It is possible to get refills, or at least remanufactured cartridges for
lasers, I wouldnt take the toner intended for a different machine and
shove that in though (having said that depending on the epson involved
they may have the same engine). If you have unusued bandnew cartridges
for other machines couldn't you sell them to pay for (remanufactured)
toner for your machine?

Using the toner cartridge until it starts to show poor print will do no harm at
all.
You should not use toner intended for other printers, there are lots of
different toner brews even within one manufacturer. You might be lucky but you
might also end up with appalling print results through contamination.
