The Essential Mod's

Hey. I'm a (yet again) returning Morrowind enthusiast. I now have both
the expansions and I'm looking for some good mods. What I'd like to see
is more interaction, more skins and more varieties overall in the game.
I realize there are potentially hundreds of skin mods out there so I was
thinking I'd ask you guys assistance. If you know of good factions that
promote really fit the game I'd love to see them. Also I'm thinking with
so many beautification mods there are bound to be some collisions. Which
ones cover most ground or dont clash with eachother.

Please be as specific with the mod names because it can get a little
tricky finding them from amongs all out there. :)

Things I've already put my eye on:
-The Wilderness mod 2.1
-Seeker faction FINAL
-Real Sign Posts
-Juniper Twin Lamps 1.1 Tribunal
-Better Bodies 2.1
-Ring texture fix
-Abandned Flat (the new version posted 16.3.2005, loved it when it first
came out)

I am "bumping" this a little, because this is exactly what I would
like to find out. I'm especially interested in the graphics-enchancing
mods, Better Bodies, possible some faces mod, etc.

And Miika, try out stuff from http://www.zamien.com/mw/vm/ . It has
stuff like window glow, recolored creatures, red sky, better-looking
soulgems... Lots of interesting stuff. I also saw a mod that recolored
Balmora, and I'm going to give that one a try. Marble City would make
that place look all different, and very special, as it seems it should
be (only started playing few days ago).

Since I was getting no replies here I've been going througn mod's on my
own. I've scrapped the Wilderness mod from my list. Was just too full of
everything and it was eating alot of RAM. I did find some keepers though.

The Astarsis mod series with dunmer, gold elf and nord remodeling and
the "basic replace" mod that affect all the other races but in smaller
ways. Looking forward to get more from him.

Other thanm I have some minor bug fix mod's and a couple ones that add
speach to characters like Vivec and Dagoth Ur.

I recommend Cait's Critters Unleashed 2.0, SG-MW-Ecology-BM,
abotWhereAreAllBirdsGoing and abotWaterLife instead.

Also recommended are all the LGNPC (Less Generic NPCs) mods, to make most
of the cities (not Vivec and Balmora, though) more interesting.
These mods are a bit on the femi/juvenile side for my taste, but still a
nice improvement to the boring NPCs.

Other more or less essential ones:
Morrowind Advanced.esm
Morrowind Patch v1.6.2.esm
Arena & The Rusty Swordsman.esp (but not the horrible Adventurers esp
that comes bundled with it)
Balance - Character.esp
Balance - game settings.esp
Balance - items.esp
Balance - Magic Effects.esp
Balance - NPC Spellcasting.esp
Balance - spells.esp
PotionSorter.esp

Necessities of Morrowind if you like more "realism". With this mod your
character has too eat, drink and sleep. But it's quite annoying that ny
character doesn't eat *before* getting weak from hunger. :-(

Good Quest mods:
Haldenshore
Illuminated Order
Nevena's Twin Lamps & Slave Hunters
Tales of the Bitter Coast
The Black Mill
The Well

If you want better graphics, install KP_MW_Visual_Pack_2.2_nature and
mw_visual_pack_2.11 followed by Visual_Pack_XT_2.
This imoroves the textures dramatically, IMO.
There may be some new ones that are even better.

Hmmm... Mods currently in my game are: Abot's birds and waterlife mods,
Seasons (makes the Ascadian islands look very nice in autumn),
Morrowind Comes Alive (which does very nicely in face/appearance
variety of NPCs), Necessities of Morrowind, NPC Schedules, Ice's Robe
Replacer, Better Bodies & Heads of course, Advanced Herbalism, Give
Your Orders, and Complete Morrowind (haven't gotten "into" that one
yet).

Ah, Information. A property, too valuable these days, to give it away,
just so, at no cost.

I didn't really need the links, just the list and those short reviews,
and little hints it had for using multiple different mods. And for
that, Telesphoros' was perfect. :(

Damn! Right now I'm playing through MW for the 2nd time. This time
with a pure mage character (My 1st in ages) who won't use armor or
weapons of any sort.

I installed the Necessities of Morrowind mod, Pegas Horse Ranch,
Rational Wildlife, Little Hazel (Cool pack animal mod) and a mod for
enabling multiple location with the Mark spells.

I'm pretty amazed at how just those few mods have dramatically
improved the game for me. I want to install some mods which improve
the graphics or add more features (the giants mod!), but my system
barely handles MW now.

And Oblivion is right around the corner!! ACK!

I wish I had better hardware and time to play through the game twice
more (besides this time) before Oblivion comes out!

Some of the mods you guys mentioned here sound pretty good as well,
esp. NPC schedules.

Wow..3 years and this game is still amazing me...

ooooohhhhhh..... what/where is the multiple Mark spell mod? That one sounds
exceedingly sweet.

Morrowin Summit should have it: www.rpgplanet.com/morrowind

It supports up to 13 Mark locations I believe. Very useful for the
Creeper runs or jumping back to a quest giver for the reward instead
of the long trek back.

Thanks....
I'm off to add to my mod collection.

Gods.... I'll have to start all over with downloading mods, once Oblivion
gets nicely established. :)
