The weird pricing system

What's up with the pricing system in Morrowind? "Auriel's Bow" and a Daedric
Longbow are *both* Attack: 2-50 and Condition: 1000 but the Daedric Longbow
is a heavier burden at 24 pounds, and Auriel's Bow takes up less weight at
16 pounds, so you'd think Auriel's Bow would be better value. But Auriel's
Bow is only 30,000 gold and the Daedric Longbow is 50,000 gold. Why is
Auriel's Bow less value than the heavier Daedric Longbow??? Anyone know?

And a chitin bow or short bow enchanted with Daedric longbow is
ridiculously cheap, just as effective a weapon and, oh, much lighter.

Why are diamonds and gold expensive? They're just rocks and metal.

Maybe there is more demand for Daedric items. Who knows. You can't go
based only on stats.

Even better is a ring with a constant Bound Longbow cast on it.

When the bow starts to show some wear, take it off, pop it back on and
presto! You have a fresh new bound longbow every time, and the only real
weight is the negligible weight of the ring itself.

Government bureaucratic controls on weapons prices. Extremely high tarrifs
on imported Daedric artifacts, partially as an attempt to protect *local*
weapons factory jobs and industries. Problems with extreme shortages of
authentic Daedric weapons components, causing artificial price increases.

Recent discovery of all things Daedric by wealthy trendsetters, who have
been driving prices up by buying everything that even looks Daedric. After
the fad has passed, it is expected that prices will return to normal.

That, or game developers who never ever ever took an economics class.
