hello,

I just ordered some components for a new rig. The problem is that the RAM I initially chose may not be available any time soon.
(OCZ DDR2 PC2-5400 Platinum XTC Dual Channel 2X1024MB)
Does anyone have alternatives? I have to choose between these three
manufacturers : G-skill, kingston and PQI.

Thanks for your feedback

Antec Performance One P180
OCZ GameXStream Power Supply 700W
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Box
Scythe Katana775
ASUS P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe S775
Seagate 320GB 7200RPM
NEC DVD +/- Rewriter 4571 Silver OEM RAM + Labelflash
EVGA e-GeForce 7900 GT KO Superclock 256MB
Sound blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic

Kingston is probably most likely to be compatible, but best bet is to contact each manufacturer (or look on their website) to find out which of their products are compatible with your MB.

have you checked ASUS' website about possible RAM issues? If I were you I would check there. When I was picking my RAM for my DFI board (notoriously more picky then any mobo made) I had to check out their forums before I ordered anything.

Kingston may be the most compatible, but from what I have read G-skill's usually have higher headroom if you OC. I also don't know anything about PQI, they either seem to be new, or I have never seen them before, either way I can't provide a recomendation on those.

Thanks for the replies to all.

I downloaded the manual from asus's website and checked their QVL.
(I didn't know most of the models to be honest)

Finally decided to go with these : G-Skill DDR II PC6400 4-4-4-12 2X 1024MB HZ
Didn't find them on the QVL but the retailer assured me that it was compatible. lwas...

Check out this review

It looks like decent site, but I wouldn't put it up there with anadtech and THG but it gives you an idea of what your memory is capable of if you OC.

Looks like you made a really nice choice :)

A nice choice indeed, must be beginnersluck ;-)

AS for the availibility of OCZ : they didn't make a delivery yet to where I live (Belgium) ... and there is no specific date on which the delivery is expected.
