I was thinking of getting a new gfx card, or anyting else worth upgrading for my crappy dell. I have about $200 CAD to spend. Here are my specs:
Dell Dimension 8250
2.8 ghz p4 533 fsb
1gb pc 1066 RDRAM (thinking of adding more, but I cant find any)
9700tx 128mb AGP
250w power supply (I assume that may cause problems)
I'd recomend something like an X800GTO, X800XL, a 7600GS, or a 7600GT. The 7600GT is supposed to be available some time this month for AGP. You're going to have to upgrade to at least a 400w PSU.
the first 2 replies are good on the videocards
as for a power supply id look at the thermaltake 430watt
at new egg it is like 39 dollars us. a good psu.
ebay should be fine i think i have ordered a second 68gt for sli
and it went fine <i ordered it from another member here at THG>
well i say it went fine the extra 68gt added a LOt of heat
Edit: I'd be pretty hesistant about buying any hardware off ebay unless it was like an evga card that still carried the manufacturers lifetime warranty. You want to be able to RMA it if something goes wrong.
