I was pondering the fact I would like to become a Physicist and a Computer hardware something or another. Now, don't get me wrong, but which would be better? I don't believe I could be both, since they are both full-time jobs. I believe I'm fairly effecient in computer technology, yet I love physics. This has hindered me quite confused, if you are a computer tech person, such as a career, as much of you are, due to this IS a computer forum site, or if you are a physicist of any kind, please give your thoughts.

Thank you,

If you're actually Irish, your best bets are probably to either A) pursue the janitorial sciences, or B) take riser's advice.

(I will now try my best to forget that I ever recommended B. )

Wow, uhm I'm not a moron, nor persuing to be a janitor, that doesn't relate to Irishmen at all...

Fock you red neck, I'm half Irish. :P

Just cause you're ancestry has been lost within your immediate family 10 times over doesn't mean you should make fun of others. :?

Be a physicist. If you know you are above average smart, be a physicist. You’ll be a physicist.

I know a few people that did physics degrees and they don't really work in Physics. One was a specialist in Laser optics and amplification, he had offers to go an work for a few people (including the Chinese government) but decided he wanted to be a teacher. The others all ended up in software development.

There are a lot of areas where physics (or at least that level of thinking) are used. Perhaps you need to focus on the areas that interest you most and think how they get applied in the paying world. Given your situation I would suggest genetics would perhaps be a better option. That way you could design some more robust potatoes. [/English arrogance]

I'm guessing the fact that you are half Irish explains why you would want to do that. Disturbing, all around.

Seems to be going around lately.. Flasher, now you.. it all makes sense...

Yeah, I've been writing papers on Nuclear physics and now a paper on Newtonian Gravitation vs General Theory of Relativity. Should be a good paper, about 1/4 done with it.

Your avatar reminds me of a time when I was maybe seven. I was sitting on the top bunk of our bunk bed and told my brother, "You're a goomba, and I'm Mario." Then I jumped on his head.

Why write it? You can google it and get all that information.

You wannabe physicists think you're so smart.

Reply to riser

You want "Computer Engineering". . . physics and comptuers combined-- provided you have very good math skills.

Also, check out GriPhyN. I have family working in that project

I would like more information on rippling plane physics and its relationship to starting the big bang...

Reply to _WW_

..and how gas giants can lead to a black hole..

Reply to audiovoodoo

well, first there was a singularity that had infinite density, blah blah, gases form, then blah blah, macromolecules, so on and so furth, and black holes? well...a star has to exceed a critical point, in which it collapses on itself, then it's a blackhole, as it takes in matter, it gains mass, losing temperature, as entropy increases, blah it can also give off radiation, hawking radiation, so on, lose energy, blah, then after a while, it collapses again....as it dies. basicially.

oops, forget to add that
