It seems too good to be true though.

Does the card run hot and is it noisy?

Jump on that deal! 8) and if you feel confortable changing the stock fan I recommend the accelero X2 as long as you have good case air flow.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835186002

The problem with the stock fan is its noisy, you cannot even hardly hear the accelero x2 even on 100% fan speed, only problem is it does not exaust the air out the back of the case so thats why I said to make sure your case has decent airflow and you will be all set.

My PS doesnt have that 6 pin connector to feed the card, is there converter thing?

Reply to adamb10

Yes, should come with one. If it doesn't, you can buy one for like $3.

Reply to prozac26

Well I'm the owner of a killer video card, an expensive one at that though.

Reply to adamb10

I have way too much power here...

I have a 15' monitor at 1024x768 it will be used on till I upgrade the monitor next year to a 20'.

Should I get hte X1800XT instead and cancel the order?

Reply to adamb10

Not much of a price difference if you don't mind the huge rebate. I'd keep the 1900. You'll be able to enjoy max details, adaptive AA, HQAF, HDR+fsaa, etc, even better with the 1900. Are you playing Oblivion?

You will need a power adaptor it seems as the pics do not show a 12v PCI-e adaptor cable included.

Reply to pauldh

Nope, it doesnt come w/ one. :(

I tried looking on the egg for one but couldnt find any.

Newegg has that one, it looks very different than others I have seen. I think it would work fine. There are also one s that get the power from 2 molex connectors.

Here is the ATI one:

Thanks.

I got a 500w PS with this stuff:

X1900XT
2 DVD Drives
1 320GB Hard Drive
X-FI XtremeMusic Sound Card
Athlon X2 4600

Hope my ps can handle the card.

What are the 12v rails output in amps? In that rig 30Amp or above is definately fine. I doubt below 25 amp would be enough. Not sure where the exact cutoff is though.

Reply to pauldh

There duel 12v

Combined +12V: 420W/35A

18A on each rail.

Reply to adamb10

You'll be fine with dual 18 amp rails. Are you sure you don't have a 6-pin PCI-e power cable on that PSU?

That's plenty to run the X1900XT. I'd keep the X1900XT; the cheapest X1800XT is only $30 cheaper. IMO, the X1900XT is the better value. Now if only I had $230 lying around.

Around here, the tooth fairy gives $1.50-$2.00 a tooth. That could be a start for you if you don't mind liquid meals from now on. :P

Thats plenty if you dont plan to do alot of overclocking and you dont have alot of extras hooked up.

Converter? Yucky, it would be best if your PSU had a 6pin. Because most of those convertors are not of a high quality......'dirty' power; there is such a thing.

Reply to raven_87

I canceled the order. I dont think I need that much power plus the card wouldnt be $234 for months. I'll get a 7900GT.

But a 7900gt also needs a 6pin connector.

I like that card but the price is still way to high to consider it.

Why would you go 7900GT when considering X1900XT? X1800XT is CHEAPER than 7900GT, offers the features of the X1900's, and outperforms the 7900GT more often than not. I can't understand deciding to pay near X1900XT prices for a much slower 7900GT, especially with much cheaper equal performing X1800XT's around.

A big reason I canceled the X1900XT is I never heard of Connect3D and I looked for support on there site and it's all done by ATI. Sapphire has ATI and it's own support.

As for the 7900GT, I heard it's faster than the X1800XT.

You heard wrong, they are pretty equal, but if anything it's the other way around. A superclocked 7900GT would usually beat it, but for X1900XT prices.

Would links help?

256MB X1800XT vs X1900GT vs 7900GT. High res 4x/16x tests show the X1800XT pull away.
http://www.legionhardware.com/docu [...] id=550&p=0

These charts will show them as close, but the X1800Xt definately wins more than it loses with eye candy turned on (4x/16x). It just depends on your games.

Wrong. The X1800XT is the faster card in shader heavy games and that seems to be where future games are headed anyway. Take Oblivion for example, the X1800XT walks the 7900GT when HDR is used plus you can enable AA and HDR with ATI unlike Nvidia.

Reply to RobsX2

Ok I canceled the order and ordered the X1800XT.

It comes with the 6 to 4 pin converter.

Good job  For the cost diff and a better card its just insane to not go with the X1800XT, far better deal for the $$$

Your going to love the image quality.

Hey good deal; cheapest of the bunch and comes with the cable you need. How much was the 7900GT you looked at? I'm sure that card would have made you happy too, just can't see spending more for one, especially when you mention the X1900XT's being to costly.

I tell ya, I upgraded from a 7800GT CO (evga oc'ed) to that Sapphire X1800XT for Oblivion, and it just blows it away. Also notice a big improvement in BF2 and Farcry. Those two games basically don't even stress the X1800XT, unless you play around with adaptive AA , HQAF, and/or HDR. Regular 4xaa/16xaf is a piece of cake. I was impressed to say the least.

Reply to pauldh

The eVGA 7900GT(not the OCed one) was around 270ish.

Reply to adamb10

BTW call me crazy but I paid the extra $$ for the retail version of the card, and not OEM.

Reply to adamb10

I hope Linux plays nice with ATI. I'll only be using Linux for short periods of time.

Oh, it was a day one discovery.

In my effortless end of canceled orders on Newegg the X1800XT became the 3rd order to be voided.

After reading some topics the X1900XT will go down to the mid $200's when the X1950XTX hits store shelves so I'll take advantage of that when it comes.

Sorry about everything, I just cant make up my mind!

Reply to adamb10

Occasional Linux I think you'll be just fine. Full time Linux, 7900GT would be better. Wow, at $270 though, the 7900GT just isn't worth it. IMO it needs to be $200 like the X1800XT. Personally, I'd pay maybe an extra $10 or less for the retail, but not any more. Identical bundled package and card, just no box and possible warranty difference.

Ut-Oh, 3 order cancellations. 8O You do realize that puts you on Neweggs order suspension list for 30 days!? Part of their chick policy.

Just Kidding. (no offense anyone) :P

I didnt realise that you were looking at the rebate, I never use rebates so I dont even look at them thats why I thought the sapphire was a better deal!

To celebrate a recent bidding war on my sound card(jumped from $15 to $46 in 2 hrs) I'm gonna buy 2 X1900XTX's and crossfire them! :P

J/K but I may take home a Sapphire X1900XT now wiether I see price decreases or not.

Reply to adamb10

Oh man, that X1900XT just went on backorder. I guess word got around.

Reply to djplanet

Make sure you get the accelero x2 to both cool the card better and be near silent about it. I made it 3 weeks b4 I pulled the trigger on getting one after I got my x1900xtx.

Prolly the best $23 I have spent in a long time.

Reply to Granite3

accelero replaces the entire HS+F right?

I have the Aspire X-Dreamer case and will max the fans it can hold, hope it cools the card down.

The downside to the Accerlo is I have a opening for dust to get in. :(

Reply to adamb10

I have a problem with any HS that does not directly exhaust the hot air out of the case.

If you have a case with good airflow its not an issue. I was once concerned about this matter as well but thanks to the air flow in my case the Accelero has not affected the motherboard temp even the slightest.

Reply to RobsX2

That's just it, I have great air flow with 2 low rpm 120mm fans, but also a very silent case. And with the stock X1800XT fan exhausting the hot air out, I can game for hours at 49% fan speed or less. But if the GPU fan didn't exhaust that hot air out, my low RPM fans might no longer be enough. So if the accelero is quieter, I now need to up my case fan rpm and noise levels to exhaust the heat. To be honest, my oc systems of the past were huge server cases with 5 fans, but that is a turnoff to me now. Anyway, I'd much rather prefer the His Ice Q cooler on low speed.

Yes, it replaces the whole thing. I noticed 3-5 C temp in case temps, but the noise level went away! Good trade off IMO!

Pretty sure all x1900xts run hot and noisy. Still a damn fine card, though. If you want something cooler and quieter wait for the x1950xtx, though it will be more expensive.
