Nice, but why are you running quadro's? You into rendering or something? Wouldnt a pair of 7900GTX's or 1900XTX's Be better for gaming?

Oh and my rig is below, doesnt take much more explaining really....
August 26, 2006 3:44:38 PM

Holy cow, I want your rig doordand...besides the Quadro's those are not for a gamer....you must be cad/solidworks/3ds max heavy.

I built this rig in 2001, with a few minor upgrades since.
I'm saving $3000 for a new build come the release of Vista and DX10 cards.

Current Rig:

August 26, 2006 4:04:42 PM

No, cause you see his mouse is an Logitech mx1000.....that's not the best/most expensive...the G7 would be on his list if he chose the most expensive/best. Also he is using Seagates....everyone knows that the WD1500's are the way to go.

August 26, 2006 4:34:50 PM

Thats a nice rig but your score on 3dmark2001 is really low(my old build breaks 21,000marks...from what I can remember)... most likely 3dmark 2001 is inaccurate for measuring pc performance with dual core processors, howabought showing a 3dmark score on 2005.

Just upgraded through a great deal on Newegg from this old thing:

2600+ barton 2x512 ddr400
9800 pro
160 gb seagate
250gb seagate
30 gb maxtor
30 gb seagate

sold the old mobo and cpu and some old memory for 70 and got the cpu and mobo upgrade for 99.

to this relatively new thing:
s754 3400+ venice core E3 stepping (2.4GHz)
biostar mobo
x850pro trying to upgrade to xt speeds using the lasercut mod.

same hard drives
August 26, 2006 6:07:24 PM

This is what I have. I would however like to hear from someone else that has a similar build that has gotten some successful OC's with it. I'm a lil confused :? as to which timings to oc in bios...so many

EDIT; I'm interested in the ram timings since they don't appear in sequence the way ram timings are stated ( ie 2 3 2 6 1T)

The same goes for my cpu. If anyone has any similar clock speeds and volts that they could pass along would be much appreciated.

August 26, 2006 6:26:22 PM

The funny thing is....his monitor alone is over $2000. I doubt that really is his rig....until i see pics and 3dmark05 benchmarks...i won't believe it

Many of my system specs are in my sig, but for a complete rundown:

680 wt Aspire psu
Four 80 mm fans
One 120 mm fan
Sony CDRW
Sony DVD R/RW
2 gig Corsair PC3500LL pro
ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe
AMD X2 4400+
Sapphire X1900 XTX Toxic

Creative X-Fi Platinum
Klipsch THX 500 wt 5.1 speakers
US Robotic Modem
Logitech mouse
MS 4000 natural keyboard
10/100 network card
Wireless card

I know, some will have comments on the Aspire psu, but it has worked well for me. CPU and Graphics card are overclocked.
August 26, 2006 7:25:22 PM

asus a8nsli deluxe
3700 sandy core
4 corsair xms 512s soon to be 2 512s
68gts in sli soon to be one
antec tp2.0 550watt
100 gb maxtor hd
ac freezer for cpu and one 68gt
i have another ac cooler for the gpu it wont fit the bottom card
dell 19inch monitor and 32inch sony hdtv <cant get the tv to work in sli>
properly

68gts in sli = to much heat
i am going to split them up and make 2 computers
as i have 2 coolers for them and they <68gts> play all games pretty good

going to 2 512s will be the biggest downfall as opposed to 4
but i will have 2 computers that will work just fine instead of one

What did you trade that badass in for?!?!?!? Sempron 2200+ all the way! Wow, I have a GF4MX440 as well, so I know how much you're missing out on with that PoS new system

And my PowerBook will pwn all of your PCs.
August 26, 2006 9:33:33 PM

The last seven (yes 7) in the house are:

DFI Expert
Optron 146 (OC to 3Ghz)
G.Skill USU2-4000-2GBHZ
PC P&C 510 ASL
XFX 7900GT
Thermalright SI-120
Silverstone FM-121 (cooler and case)
Coolermaster Stacker (with rear fan guard removed) and Crossflow fan.

I also have the top fan turned upside down and a posterboard duct so the PSU only gets cool outside air. I never let any builds use the PSU as a case cooler!

CPU's run 2C over room temps and the GFX run 10C over room temps....after an hour of benchmarks the CPU goes up 1C and the GFX 3C more
The PSU is just warm enough to notice with a hand in front of the exit air.

Napoli-2 Motherboard
Intel Katmai Pentium 3 500mhz Slot1

August 26, 2006 10:37:58 PM

LOL...I went from an HP 9795c (1.4ghz, 512MB, 60 gig) to an E6600 system recently. What a difference!!! My system is earlier in this thread. Got mine to 3.05ghz on stock voltage...plan to get it to at least 3.6 eventually
August 26, 2006 10:39:58 PM

Probably just out of curiousity. I find it interesting to see what other people are running. Mine is in the sig.

How did you run windows xp on that system? 64mb ram? I can barely run xp on my system ( see sig for specs ) and it is way better than that one. I actually gave up on win xp because it was so slow and went to win2k wich is way faster.

It added about an inch to my e-penis. One for the extra core.

Yes, it barely ran Windows XP at all, but it managed to. Slow beyond belief, barely enough resources to run many games.
August 27, 2006 4:21:09 AM

Like I said Doordand.....until i see a few links (or perhaps a website) showing of screenshots of your entire build (monitor included)....and a screenshot of your score in 3dmark 05 I won't believe it.

You get no inches to your e-peen until you show everyone the proof.

Also the fact that you chose quadro cards for that build...makes me really want to question you. Because if that was really your system....it would be a gaming rig with gaming graphics cards....not a graphics workstation.

So until i see proof....your bluffing.
August 27, 2006 4:24:43 AM
