Hey guys, this is my first post, and I gotta Q!

Do you guys have any Suggestions on optimizing my system without overdooing it? (OC'ing is fun, but i'd rather optimize slightly than overclock). Butttt, also give OC'ing info if you have any, I want to get as much knowledge about what i can do to this as I can ^^

Any Drivers that I should get?

Also, I am thinking about getting a new fan for my CPU, I dont really like that it is sitting at 50C ATM without any overclocking and the stock fan, Anyone know any good AM2 socket fans that are still valid with AMD?

System Specs:

Asus MS2-SLI Deluxe Revision 0202

Also, I was thinking about getting a Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro S754 S939 S940 2200RPM 40CFM Heatsink Fan for my CPU, is that a good choice? would it void warrenties? Any ways around that? (using a certain paste or something?)

sry i can only reply to the 2nd post.

My 4600 was idling around 52C so i ordered the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro. Now i get ~44C idle temps. That is not too big of an improvement, so i ordered some thermal paste, which i shouldve bought along with the cooler.
Make sure you buy both

Thank you for the reply, don't worry, im glad that you had something to contribute, what ever it is.

Question about that though, what paste did you get? and what difference did it make?

Also, does it void the manufactur warrenty with it?

Thank you :) Im sure since it's a good cooler, that it won't void the warrenty.. I hope at least.

Anyone have comments on my system / setup? ^^

I figured as much, but I also had the thought that maybe a different chem makeup would make it better / worse.

Anyways, So the Arctic cooler sounds like a nice air cooler deal, can get it for like 29 bucks CND.

Anyone hvae ideas for my system setup?

Yea, I gotter built but it isn't exactly preforming as i'd like so far. I was looking around and everyone has these memory timings, and I don't know specifics, but I tried the 1T setting instead of the 2T setting.

Also, the board has it's own built int over clocker, but when I try to go 105% it freezes, and when i try in the bios, it won't load.

Any clue on that one?

WEll, I just looked at my PC Probe II and it recorded that my CPU temp went up to 138F.

Im using the stock fan, stock settings...

Why would it frigging be this hot on stock!!

I have the Thermaltake toughpower or w/e 600W PSU that draws air out, i have my side panel throwing air directly into the CPU, and a back case fan that is under the PSU that is drawing air out aswell.

Please I need help!

well that seems alittle warm try setting every thing to stock
check temps for a while <say a week or so> if every thing
loks good then go for the oc

unless you find another problem not associated with the overclock

temps shouldnt rise with ocing unless you raise the vlts much

Pardon me for jumping in here with a noob question about cooling measurement.

How do you know what temp your cpu is running? Does the system or software tell you that or do you have temp probes on your cpu etc.?

In other words, what's telling you what your temp is?

Thanks.

Well, with my motherboard, there are sensor's on it. It also came with software to read those sensors.

Depending on your motherboard. You might or might not have software for it on the net. Check it out.
