Have 3 gb ram but showing 2 gb in computer

Could be a wide range of problems causing this such as:Windows being x86 or x64 bit, All the ram isn't seated properly, Bad memory stick, motherboard limitation on the amount of ram it can handle. Could be that you have Win X86 and a video card with a gig of dedicated video ram which also shares in the pool of additional ram that your computer has, which would report 2 gigs of ram in x86. Without knowing more details about the computer configuration eg: Motherboard, OS, Ram, video card, i cant help diagnose the complete problem.
