I'm having the same problem, we got hit with hacker defender and this version creates a folder structure that starts with com1/....
I was able to rename the top level folder from the insanely long name the trojan created so I could deal with the problem a little more easily.
I found the info in KB article 120716 and was able to use the Posix tools to remove MOST of the files, however one file remains deep in the directory structure I now have one file left - c:\123\com1\ioFTPD\tool\hxdefdrv.sys, nothing else listed in the KB article helped. The SFN for this directory is also com1
The security on this file has been modified so that no matter what I try I cannot delete it or the rest of the directory tree. So far I've tried cacls, Xcacls, takeown, and several of the Posix tools: mv, rm, chown, and chmod - all with no luck.
This is on one of our production web servers, so I'm trying to avoid the backup/rebuild/restore solution if at all possible.
Can anyone give me a suggestion on anything else to try, or some tool (preferrably free) that might be able to delete these files?
