I have an Asus PCIe Geforce 6800 that has developed some strange artifacts and is unable to run with Forceware drivers or the original ASUS drivers. It can only run with the standard XP VGA drivers.

It looks like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/15305 [...] 252079703/

I have cleaned the heating fan and reinstalled drivers and directx 9c and turned down the hardware acceleration but it didn't solve the problem.

I have no other computer with a PCIe slot so i am unable to test the card.

Motherboard: NForce4
Screen: Samsung syncmaster with digital port. I have tried the analog port and its the same result.

Is the grafix card dead or is there still hope?

Looks like video memory corruption or a bad DAC. Probably time for a new card. Have you OCed it?

I have exactly the same this week with my xfx 6800gt pci-e i bought on january 2005.
In games the colors are all messed up.I've also did a format and as soon as i installed drivers for video it appears, used different nvidia drivers and all are the same.So i'm thinking of buying a new cheap card to replace this one because my pc is only 19 months old.

Any sugestions on what to buy,the same or a bit better performance than my old one, just for another year, next summer gonna upgrade to dual core 6600 so don't want to give much for this card.

It's not dead but it will be the video ram is starting to go so it will be only a mater of time before it will die.RMA the card as soon as possible and pay some extra money and get someting else fast

you mean you guys didnt buy from a manufacturer with a lifetime warranty? 8O I buy all my gear from EVGA and I highly reccommend them!

You can get a x1800xt for 200$ or a 7600GT for ~150$ the best choice, but the x1800xt is the one to go for

deffinately bad memory dude.Rma the card asap, and go for something better, like a 7800 or 7900.well worth the money i can assure.and yes purchase an EVGA card or some other responsible manufacturer that will back up their products for life.It shows the dedication of the manufacturer to the consumer.goodluck.

The memory is dead as others have said; I killed the ram on a 6800GT before and it looked just like that.

Thanks guys,
Will call the shop tomorrow and ask if there's any waranty on it because it's only 19 months old, problem is i need my pc so rma the card will leave me for weeks without it,so still need to buy a card.Just hope i have 2 years at the shop so i can get a new one right away.

Its always good to have some old hardware lying around for situations like this. When I had this problem and didnt have anything myself I went to a 2nd hand store and got a 8mb pci card for like 5 bucks so I could still use my PC. It was a Matrox and the 2d picture was very good as usual.

Well, just got back from the store and it was still under the 2 year warranty,so they gave me a point of view 7800gt pci-e instead.
I just payed 50 euro on top because it's a better board than the 6800gt.
They gave great costumer service, they searched-because they're moving- for a card to give to me directly so i could keep on working with my pc.
