lost files after defrag

I defragged one of my local drives (not the drive that
contains the OS) and after defrag was done I can no longer
access the drive. It tells me I need to format the drive.
I have at least 100 GB of data that I will lose if I
format this drive. Is there anyway I can recover this data
without formatting.

That's why you do backups before any hard disk maintenance.

Send to a recovery specialist, eg ontrack.com
