Is the x1900xtx still a good buy if someone still wants to get it? Or is the x1900xt still the main contender?

The prices on the x1900xt are still lower, but the x1900xtx has plumeted.

If XTX is similar price to a XT, then go for the XTX. Usually the XTX is about $100 more, so it's not worth buying.

before the rebate though on the x1900xt, its only roughly a 20-25 buck difference, but that extra 25 could go to something to make the card a little quieter. I have heard its so loud.

Thats a really overpriced X1900XT. I saw one for as low as $235 o_o and many run by ~$280.
In any case, wait just a few weeks for the new ATI cards. These will eitehr be a better choice for you or put a lower price tag on the X1900XTX.
