Our favourite search engine uses Opterons to power their datacenters:

Some of the new servers going into Google's data centers are probably equipped with AMD Opteron multicore processors. Google won't confirm that, but one of the reasons AMD chips are selling so well to other companies is that they don't throw off as much heat as older alternatives. Google engineers, who pay close attention to microprocessor efficiency and heat dissipation, must find AMD chips hard to ignore. Intel is racing to improve the performance-per-watt of its own processor line.

Old news. Now for someone to post a picture of a sockpuppet, slinky or a cookie. Seriously why do you think people care?

Becasue google is known to buy servers with thousands of processors and thi surely means a big win for AMD.

Meh. Sales of servers can lag a little bit behind the times in the sense that by the time an agreement is signed technology has inched forward. When Google made this decision it was the best decision. If they were signing those contracts later this year then it'd probably be a different story.

It's probably the last big win for AMD for a while. So you better keep those url's in your favourites to remind yourself of the good times.

Once again, 9 inch deliberately with intent to decieve quotes information out of context.

The story in no way shape or form concerns AMD as 9 inches cut and paste out of context quote leads to believe. In fact, the whole article has only a whopping 3 sentences mentioning AMD.

The subject of the article deals with:

.... tough issues of data center management....

9 inch, deliberatley distorting the truth is the same as lying. Stop lying.
