The Gigabyte is cheaper while also having the ICH8R southbridge. The Asus has WiFi, a feature I don't need and could easily add later if necessary.

Main difference is no more ATA, 2 more SATA's and 2 more USB ports
P5B is also available without WiFi.

I have a P5B Deluxe WiFi and I have to say, it's a nice board :wink:

The P5W has a ICH7R southbridge

However, the P5B has an IDE channel (trough an extra chip from jmicron or something like that :p )

yeah the DQ6 and P5B can support up to 2 ide devices so you could run both HDDs but then you wont have an optical drive. you could however run 1 HDD and 1 opti but then youll lose storage unless you go SATA but if your not willing to upgrade to SATA then the p5w is the only option that has more ide channels.

yup i have 2 ide hd's and 2 optical drives, and all 4 work fine, so for now i need something that has support for (4)ide's btw can i use lets say 2 optical ide devices, 1 ide hd and lets say 1 sata at the same time? on the p5w dh deluxe?
