Hi All,

I have windows xp.
Have all the lastest windows xp updates.

My c:\ (master drive) works fine but
My issue is my slave hard drive (maxtor) disappears from device manager and windows explorer usually in 20-40 minutes logging onto windoze.

I have went into device manger and remove hard drives. Next reboot of windows xp. Windows does find the slave drive but then 20-40 minutes later the drive disappears.

Any suggestions :?:

If you have a new cable replace it. I had one that was acting the same way, a ne cable fixed it.

Other wise move it to a different controller. And verify the jumpers are correctly set if an ide device. If you are set to cable select, change your configuration to mater/slave.

Running the manufacture's diagnostic utility wouldn't hurt.

Download a free copy of UltimateBootCd, which will have that and every other (free) boot utility you can possibly want.

Also you should check the event viewer which should have some interesting and hopefully informative error messages for you.
