the title says it all. i will be purchasing new board on the weekend with new vga card. since ati x1900xt is a top performer..price/performance, should i be getting the first or 2nd board. there is a 100$ difference between the two. taking ati because nvidia vga's are to expensive, currently have 7900gs AGP and looking to upgrade to pci express.
i have had no issues with my a8r-mvp but some people have. hell, some people over at asus forums were calling for it to be recalled but i think they were a bit extreme.
like wusy said if your wanting to overclock the a8r-mvp may not be the best board but for the money it has served me well these last few months.
I own the Asus A8R32 MVP deluxe, and I am not terribly inpressed with the oc I get (about 200 MHz on on Opty165). But then, I bought the board becuase I wanted something completely fanless and the ABit Cf3200x boards weren't out yet.
Overall I am impressed with the features of the board, just not it OC abiliaty, which admitedly may be from other hardware.
I have the latest BIOS, and I still can't get more out of the overclock. It just says "overclocking failed" and refuses to boot. Damn automated systems. If I want to screw up my system, it should let me, not try to coddle me and hold me to "safe" overclocks.
