There is a whole lot less racism in the US than you've been lead to believe. Its an issue for people who choose to make it an issue, such as politicians, the meadia or a few people who want to feel put upon. But what can you say about a country whose media has been devoting 80% of theirs news to the question of who impregnated a bloated drugged out whore?

In the rest of the world (outside of France) racism isn't that much of an issue. People have learned to move on and hate people for more appropriate reasons, like stupidity for instance.

I can't even say the last time I saw white on black racism. I see some black on white racism though.

This sh[i][/i]it you see on TV and read about.. that's all blown up and made out to be racism. Racism would most likely almost go away if it wasn't constantly being brought into the spot light.

Hell, Not a single person has said anything about the Duke Rape case being dropped. That was PURE black on white Racism. That became a huge case because it was considered white on black at the time, now its black on white and you don't hear a dam[i][/i]n thing about it.

Personally, I'm focking sick of all the crap white people take on racism. My family moved to this country in 1904. I had nothing to do with slavery. I'm not racist but I am prejustice.

If I'm sitting in a rich white neighborhood and I see two ghetto looking (stereotype, yes.) walking down the street. Fock yeah, I'm calling the police. Even if they were white I'd call the cops. They don't fit the situation.

I've been to NYC plenty of times. The biggest problem with NYC is that lack of communication. People get pissed at each other because no one speaks the same language.

Trust me, I look around to see what's going on. In my area, black on white crime is far more common than white on black from what I see.

2 Octobers ago you saw my city all over the news. The Neo-Nazis came in protesting black on white crime.. what happened? Black on white crimes during that.

There was no coverage on any return white on black crime. It made national news because it was originally "white on black" racism.. which in reality was really black on white crime..which is what was being incited to bring attention to just that: black on white crime is just as common as white on black crime.. thus, shouldn't it just be a crime and no longer racism?

Our city was locked down for a few days.. curfew in place unless you were at an establishment.

The Neo Nazis made their point clear.. while I don't care for them, they did bring attention to an issue everyone knows yet no one wants to bring up.

Couple things:

Being a racist and being an idiot aren't mutually exclusive. You can be smart and a racist at the same time. Having said that, I am most certainly not a racist.

Second...

There are major physical and social barriers in the United States that aren't easily broken. It's easy to sit there in your tiny country on your ivory tower with a population of 16,000,000 and judge larger, more populated countries. In as small as yours it's easy to make social change for a number of reasons (which are explained below).

We are a country of enourmous size and population. (3.7 million square miles and 300 million people, respectively) Change is not an easy thing when your dealing with such large proportions.

I spent 5 years in the US Army. I saw my fair share of racists join and almost overnight turn into someone that accepts diversity. Why? Because for the first time in their life they have to depend and work with other races and nationalities. That tends to change people.

Places without diversity tend to become prejudice... that's simply human nature. And when you've got a huge land mass like ours, it's easy to "get stuck" in a place where there is no diversity. Small town USA in the middle of Montana isn't likely to house asians, mexicans, or african-americans. It's likely to have whites... and again; human nature takes over. Case and point: I live in what's called a "minority majority" state. Meaning this: the majority of the population is categorized as a minority (in this case hispanic). There's an incredible amount of reverse discrimination against WHITES in my city and state. Racism is definitely not confined to JUST the white race. It's fcuking human nature no matter what color you are to be prejudice. It's a god damned instinct... it's has to be TRAINED out of our heads. We aren't born as socially objective beings. Our brains are designed to naturally FEAR anything that's different... it's why we're still at the top of the food chain! Can we untrain ourselves of this? Absolutely. But it takes education and exposure to diversity to do it. You cannot have one without the other.

Holland, on the other hand, is already in a heavily populated continent filled with diversity. Holland itself is densely populated (compatively speaking). Again... densely populated areas tend to have more diversity and thus less discrimination and prejudice.

Having said all that, our country has made enourmous strides against racism and discrimination in the past 40 years. That sort of social change is almost unprecedented. I dare you to step into a major metropolitan area in the USA and find a racist. Most of the true racists live in remote and sparsely populated areas. And again, it's easy to become ignorant in those areas because you're not exposed to diversity.

This has been my experience with racism in the USA.

I don't think there are enough activities for kids. Its either play sports or you get nothing.

I think more bike and skating boarding parks should open up and places that welcome teenagers mainly. A lot of the coffee shops around me are mainly teenagers just looking for a place to hang out now. I can't blame them.. it gives them a place to go hang out that isn't the mall or their parent's house. Its a place they can go daily to hang out.. just have to have money for a coffee and food then.

Just need to get places to keep people occupied. These kids have a lot of time on their hands.. I remember growing up I was always playing sports or games of some sort.. If I didn't play sports, I probably would have been bored and gotten into trouble a lot more.
