Clarify on laptop CPU labelling.

Hi, Im doing some research on behalf of a friend who is looking into buying a laptop, and I am looking for guidance on Intel’s range, I’ll be the first to admit im a little confused.


On Intels web site a list of laptop processors they advertise:-

Pentium M is self expletory to me, but what im looking to clarify is what architecture does the Core Solo & Core duo use? And does the Centrino name (as im lead to believe) use the Pentium M processor still?

Pentium M is still available with Centrino stuff.
Core is the architecture for Core Solo and Duos. It's a departure from the totally awesome (sarcasm) Netburst architecture.
If you're friend is looking for a laptop, look at the Core Duo or even Core 2 Duo for Intel's top of the line laptops. Even AMD's Turion 64 X2s are available. If you're interested in 64-bit, then the C2D and Turions are the choices you have.

There are some websites that review/compare laptops, I believe.
